Intrigued about car donation charity

Everytime I hear the word car donation charity, I cant help but think of those charity like donating toys or food or clothes, but it made me wonder why in the world donate cars? So I did some research about this donate a car thing and found out that this is actually a very good piece of charity work wherein you donate a car, whether working or not and they find some value for it by repairing, reselling or whatever else to make it of value, and the proceed goes to their programs and charity work. This somehow inspired me so now even I myself am willing to donate my car which is already old for 6 years and see it still be used for something more worthwhile. I guess that is the power of humanism and I am glad to still be human.
